L&D Africa Conference 2025

Learning and development (L&D) have become central to the advancement of knowledge economies globally. As African countries strive to meet the demands of the 21st century, marked by rapid digitization, automation, and shifting workforce dynamics, it has become imperative to reassess and reimagine learning paradigms on the continent.

Despite significant strides in educational access and policy reform, glaring gaps remain: disparities between rural and urban learners, misalignments between academic curricula and industry needs, and insufficient adoption of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) in instructional design and delivery.

According to the World Economic Forum (2023), over 60% of Africa’s population is under 25, making the continent the youngest in the world. Yet, the challenge lies not only in educating this youthful population but in ensuring the relevance, adaptability, and equity of that education. The growing skills mismatch, identified by UNESCO (2022) as a key development bottleneck in Sub-Saharan Africa, further underscores the urgency of bridging learning and workforce readiness.

The 2025 L&D Africa Conference aims to create a pan-African platform for dialogue, innovation, and strategic collaboration across public, private, and civil society sectors to address these systemic challenges.
