Registered as a private limited company in Feb 2014, in spirit and soul Mera Maan is a social enterprise committed to finding sustainable ways to “make the world a better place”. It is a platform that encourages and supports like-minded people to offer business-oriented, sustainable solutions to social issues. It builds capacities and supports them towards innovative giving back. Meaning “My Pride and Dignity”, Mera Maan is committed to “Building Capacities to Build Capacity” of people and organizations. Its birth was inspired in 2005 when the founder and CEO, Shahnaz Kapadia Rahat, lost her 17-year-old son Salman in an earthquake. In those moments of start pain the startling clarity, she knew that life must have a bigger purpose.
Mera Maan team has been able to deliver quality services in a wide range of thematic areas, for the public, private and development sectors, both nationally and internationally. But over a period of time, it has converged its focus to selected thematic areas, which include module designing for scale-up, strategic planning and institutional development, women economic empowerment and youth empowerment. We also undertake the mid-term and end-of-project evaluation in our core thematic areas as well.
Mera Maan Pvt. Ltd. (MMPL) is a training and consulting company extending services to its clients from the public, private and development sectors. MMPL has elected to choose experienced professionals and gathered them to assist its clients in the area of social and enterprise development, gender and governance, local government, human rights & advocacy, financial literacy, youth & peace development, women empowerment, etc. We also specialize in baseline & end line surveys, impact assessment, research design, project management, sample design, data collection, data analysis and reporting which have strengthened our client’s confidence. We are focused to convert research into actionable insight and therefore, provided workable solutions to our national and international clients.
Mera Maan specializes in enterprise and livelihoods development, mainly at the grassroots level, specifically with women and women home-based workers in KPK. We have worked closely with this target group, and we understand them, the context within which they live, and their realities. We are also familiar with all the key actors and stakeholders in the target region and have worked with them, having had close engagements with Women Development Departments, Commissions on the Status of Women, Labor and Human Resource Departments, IDSP, Home Net Pakistan, microfinance institutions, district level forums and action committees, etc. The Mera Maan team has also conducted research, developed evaluations and assessments for multiple clients in various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on their projects. Through our previous endeavors, we have created an excellent outreach in almost all the KP districts and are now well connected with the NGOs and relevant Provincial Government Departments of KP / FATA Secretariat and are familiar with key actors and stakeholders in the Newly Merged Districts. We have developed strong linkages with the Planning and Development Department, Social Welfare, Special Education & Women Empowerment Department, KP Commissions on the Status of Women, Labor and Human Resource Departments, Academic institutions, etc.; therefore, enabling us to initiate the assignment without any delays, and be able to deal with any issues that may arise during implementation.
While Mera Maan has the expertise to conceptualize, design and implement national and international capacity development projects and programs, the company also has the capacity and capability to conduct and deliver quality services in a wide range of thematic areas, for public, private and development sectors, both nationally and internationally. For the next 4-years, Mera Maan has particularly converged its focus to 6-key thematic areas as follows: Policy & Strategy; Research & Development; Capacity Development & Scaling-up; Project Design & Implementation; Livelihoods, Enterprise & Private Sector Development; and Gender & Governance.
