Andrew has a wealth of knowledge from 11 years of growth leadership and management experience in financial services, petroleum, and enterprise development. Andrew was previously the head of a $ 95mn commercial banking segment at Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, where he worked for 5 years. He had working stints in Zambia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. He was later head-hunted by British Petroleum to look after its Castrol business in East Africa.

Andrew is currently the commercial and projects director at BrightLife, a Finca PLUS social enterprise that pioneered in Uganda. He is responsible for donor-funded projects, technological innovation, BrightLife’s sales and distribution network, and marketing. He is also the founder of Penda Capital, a consulting firm that specializes in financial literacy, consulting and microfinance.

He understands investments, business development, corporate governance, and strategy. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment in the UK, and was previously a member of the board of trustees for the $10 MN Stanbic Bank Pension Fund. He is a certified trustee of the Uganda Retirement Benefits Authority (URBA) and chairperson of the Uganda Imperial Forest Company Limited Board of Directors.

Andrew studied impact investing at Harvard University in 2019, he holds an MSc. Finance from the University of Leicester (UK), and is a certified project management practitioner from the University of California, Irvine. Andrew is a purpose-driven disruptor with a cosmopolitan mindset and yet very grounded. He has a sense of humor and gets along with people quite easily.
