Mr. Akila Ramanayaka is a graduate majoring in Chemical & Process Engineering and an associate member of the Institute of Engineers Sri Lanka and currently reading for MPhil in Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

He was part of the Nestle Marketing team during his early career, an area sales engineer with one of the pioneering industrial lubricant companies Carl Bechem Gmbh, Germany. He has directed himself towards the entrepreneurial path by incorporating Legacy Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, Legacy Travels (Pvt) Ltd, and Thambili Island Travels (Pvt) Ltd.

He has participated in workshops/seminars/conferences in Indonesia, Germany, and the Netherlands in the capacities of trainer/facilitator/organizer/national delegate in AIESEC, the world's largest student-run organization. He has also been associated with training companies Adventure Asia Int. as an outward-bound trainer and as a synergist at Unleash Talent Inc.

Currently, he is a visiting lecturer at the University of Sri Jayawardenepura attached to the department of Entrepreneurship and Postgraduate studies. He is also a consultant to the Chamber of Small & Medium Enterprises (COSME) which is affiliated with the same university, and a resource person at the University of Colombo, department of economics in the newly established BPO studies division.
