Samirah Faruk is a business executive and change maker working in rural, peri-urban, and urban communities in Kano Nigeria targeting poverty alleviation and empowerment of women and youth to take charge of their lives; born on a Wednesday the 16th of August to a family of entrepreneurs in Kano Nigeria. Samirah is a mother of four who speaks two local languages of Nigeria fluently with working knowledge of French and Swahili, loves traveling to somewhere new each year and making friends.

She has a first and second degree in International Studies and International Affairs and Diplomacy from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, Nigeria with certification in project management. Her love for entrepreneurship grew as a result of helping her late father in his bakery and poultry farm and thus naturally in 2009 after garnering over 16 years of working experience in the financial and private sector, she founded and now also is the executive director of Mercy Mission Global Ltd which has under its folds Bishe Organic Farms and Serendipity Healthcare Foundation; a not for profit organization.

In 2013, she won the Architect of the Future award from the Austrian coalition of nonprofit organizations. In 2014, she was awarded a Nigerian Government grant to grow her organic poultry and livestock farm and seconded to serve as a technical aid corp member volunteer through the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs in East Africa lecturing freshman, sophomore, and final year students in Islamic University In Uganda. In 2016, under her direction in Serendipity Healthcare Foundation, the organization was certified as a vetted and trusted partner of GlobalGiving USA & UK to date.

Samirah was also awarded the Kwame Nkrumah Servant Leadership award from the West African Student Parliament in Ghana. She was also the winner of the Best Farm Innovation Award for sustainable organic poultry production by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, Dubai, UAE in 2016. She has a certification in farm data management in 2019, a tool that is used to transform agriculture using technology for food sustainability, and recently, in 2020, she was awarded a fellow of Ignite West Africa, mentoring women farmers and start-ups and she was the Vice President of the Ignite Alumni Association. In March 2021, she was awarded an Excellence award as an icon of humanitarian services by the National Association of Northern State Students Union. She is also an online volunteer with United Nations Volunteers and an on-site volunteer having worked in Morocco. Samirah is also a National Certified Business Development Service Provider training women and youths on entrepreneurship and business development.

Samirah currently has written two e-books on the day-to-day secrets of sustainable organic poultry production and aging gracefully using natural herbs, fruits, and vegetables. She also runs classes for new entrants in organic poultry and livestock.
