Nonye Umahi
Trainer
Nonye is the managing consultant of Cuanu Consult Ltd; a firm for training, recruitment, and consultancy services. As an entrepreneur, she has trained medical laboratory scientists, SMEs, and youth and women groups on entrepreneurship, however much emphasis has been on the entrepreneurial opportunities in the medical diagnostic industry and the health sector at large.
She is a graduate of Medical Laboratory Science from the University of Nigeria. Since graduation, she has worked in SPDC IA Hospital, NLNG Hospital, and General Hospital
Eleme. She has also worked as a site head in an ISO-accredited laboratory, a quality assurance executive in an HMO, and a country product manager - medical devices in an ISO-certified conglomerate.
She is an OSHA-certified Safety Supervisor and was trained by the Nigeria Directorate of Employment amongst others. She has been trained by The Centre for Disease Control(CDC), Sanders Laboratories, and the American Society for Microbiology on Medical Laboratory ISO 15189 standards, biosecurity, biorisk management, biosafety, and infection control. She is versed in Medical Laboratory Accreditation according to ISO 15189.
She is also a certified human resource manager, customer service professional, logistics & supply professional, CBN financial literacy trainer, and enterprise development trainer
for the Federal Government CBN/NIRSAL MFB AGSMEIS.
She consulted for the World Health Organization on the First National Essential Diagnostic List Development for Nigeria which was the first in Africa. Nonye has been accredited as a business development service provider by the Enterprise Development Centre of Pan Atlantic University, Lekki; and licensed by the Federal Government to practice as such. She is a Cherie Blair Foundation Mentor Alumna and one of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women. Nonye went through the Entrepreneurship in Emerging Economies program conducted by the Harvard Business School. She is certified in promoting access to medical technologies and innovation - A WHO, WIPO, and WTO Executive Course on The Intersections between public health, intellectual property, and trade. She went on further to represent Nigeria at a Trade and Public Health workshop, with a special focus on pandemic preparedness and response organized by the World Trade Organization.
Nonye belongs to the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria(MLSCN), Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria(AMLSN) where she is a fellow, Association of Female Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria(AFMLSN), Guild of Medical Laboratory Directors (GMLD), African Society of Laboratory Medicine(ASLM), Nigeria Biological Safety Association(NiBSA) and American Society for Microbiology(ASM). She has organized a good number of workshops and consulted for startups and health facilities. Nonye has trained over 500 MSME owners. Her specialties are medical laboratory QMS, health entrepreneurship, business development, management, recruitment, and training.
