Trainer

Jean-Philippe Mukuaki is a private sector development as well as training specialist. He has been the CEO of DOS Africa sarl since 1995, a consulting firm supporting the development of the SME sector and the overall private sector development through training of trainers, training of consultants, support to SME support organizations, support to business climate and youth entrepreneurship.

With more than 34 years of professional experience, he has developed other fields of specializations such as poverty reduction, micro finance, community development, youth employment/entrepreneurship, and alternative finance.

Jean-Philippe has more than 20 years of professional experience in international organizations, 9 years in the World Bank Group, 14 years in the United Nations System.

WORLD BANK GROUP

(1) As a consultant at the World Bank, he was part of the team which formulated the 100 millions USD program for SME development in DRC (2017-2018).
(2) He spent more than 8 years with the International Finance Corporation (IFC): as the Program Manager of the DRC SME Development Program, he promoted IFC management solutions, Business Edge (BE) and SME tookit. He created a strong network of 17 BE training providers, 130 trainers which trained more than 10,000 SME leaders, provided support to more than 5,000 SMEs and facilitated access to finance to hundreds of SME thanks to the agreements reached with key financial institutions and donors. He worked for Global Private Equity Funds, providing support to first time fund managers for private equity funds providing in frontier markets. He worked for the SME Value Chains department. He had the chance to coordinate IFC activities in DRC for one year (in 2011).

UN SYSTEM

Jean-Philippe led the UNDP Poverty Reduction Unit in DRC for the period 2004-2008. He was in charge resource mobilization and management for the UNDP poverty program. He worked on programs/projects formulation, implementation and supervision in the following sectors: community development, micro finance, youth employment, environment, HIV/Aids and other pandemics.

He was a national expert at UNIDO and then the manager of the "UNIDO-UNDP Support to private sector project" for the period 1991-1998.

He also extensively worked as a consultant in the same UN System in various roles, such as (i) conducting the organizational audit mission for the Industrial Promotional Fund (FPI, DRC) for UNDP, (ii) supporting the largest business membership organization in DRC (FEC) with the implementation of a "Business advisory services Unit" to support its members (for UNDP), (iii) supporting FAO with the exit strategy for the rural community radio implemented in the Kongo Central province (Mbanza-Ngungu) in the DRC, (iv) supporting UNDP with the final evaluation of projects set-up in the Eastern DRC post-conflict regions for DDR (Demobilization, Disarmament and Reintegration).
