Sahra Ahmed Koshin is a Somali-Dutch Ph.D. Candidate at the University of Nairobi and the University of Copenhagen researching gender in Somali diaspora humanitarianism in complex crises. As a case study she is looking at the Somali businesspeople in Zambia and their connection with the homeland.

She has been involved in the design and delivery of several business development and capacity-building projects initiated by, among others, ADRA Somalia, IFC/World Bank, and others. Since 2013 she has been a part of a project initiated by IFC that brought different business women together from Somalia, Somaliland, Chad, Tanzania and Sierra Leone in order to learn from one another in how to develop a business idea, growing your business. This involved a number of trips to Zanzibar, Dar-es-salaam, Nairobi and Garowe. There are multiple benefits in bringing together women-run MSMEs to partner with one another, to network, to learn from each other's success both on- and off-line. She is currently writing this experience as a blogger.

Sahra a senior trainer and the founder of the Somalia Gender Hub, a knowledge hub that aims to advance the capacity and the provision of data and evidence on gender and the situation of women in Somalia. She has over 18 years of professional work experience in research, policy analysis, and knowledge management in countries such as Somalia, Kenya, the Netherlands, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, and Zambia, including that with Somali government institutions and (I)NGOS such as the UN, the EU, AFDB, World Bank, Save the Children, Care International, etc.
