Christian Elongué: Managing Director of Kabod Localization Services, Signatory to the IFC Principles for Learning

Christian Elongué is the managing director of Kabod Localisation Services (KLS), an ISO-certified language services provider based in Accra, Ghana. Christian has over 11 years of experience as a translator in the tech, nonprofit, and video game industries.

He founded the African Languages Translators and Teachers (ALATT) network and the Marketplace of African Translators & Interpreters (MATI), collectively including around 4,030 translators, interpreters, and linguists from Africa. Christian also serves on the Association of Language Companies in Africa (ALCA) board and hosts a podcast highlighting localization and language technology initiatives across the continent.

In February 2024, Christian was the sole African featured on MultiLingual's list of 34 Influencers driving the language service industry. Later that year, he launched Afrolinguals, the first magazine dedicated to providing insights and resources for Africa’s language services industry. He also initiated the Next Billion Conference, the first conference focused on the business of languages in Africa.

Christian is dedicated to raising awareness about the economic potential of the language services industry in Africa. He aims to increase its visibility and attract investments similar to those in other sectors like edtech, fintech, and agritech. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including ALCA, ITI, CIOL, ILA, and ATSA.
