Business Start-up Center Monrovia (BSC Monrovia)
For profit/private sector
In 2009 the Business Start-up Center Monrovia (BSC Monrovia) was established as collaboration between the Association of Liberian Universities (ALU) and SPARK. The BSC Monrovia organizes activities and services to support job creation and poverty alleviation in Liberia, including business plan competition, employability training, business skills training, business development services, and matchmaking with investors, coaching, mentoring, and business advocacy.
In January 2011 the BSC became a full partner to the United Entrepreneurship Coalition to implement the MFS II program. This program in which SPARK (lead) and BiD Network are the main partners, pursued the following objectives:
1. Direct poverty alleviation (through SME/entrepreneurship Development and therefore job creation)
2. Capacity building of the local partners and their networks (LEAP/ LBBF/ ALU/ BSC Monrovia)
3. Policy making & advocacy.
The BSC Monrovia has the ambition to become a fully capable, self-sustainable organization, in order to keep fulfilling its objectives and promise even after the donor funds run dry.
In 2014 BSC Monrovia opened four new centers across Liberia.
